What surprises first-time guests at Sạc Station is the scale: this is not one room but a multi-level open courtyard, scaffolding steel stacked several storeys high, the façade packed with neon in every colour — SẠC in green and red up top, a map pin shaped like a beer glass, a WHERE? sign, boards naming the days of the week. Sheets of clear plastic hang from the roofline catching the light. Real trees grow straight out of the floor with string lights wound round their trunks. Timber tables painted red and green are packed close together, and on weekend nights there is barely a free one. The ceiling is the actual sky, which makes this a place you can still sit on a humid Saigon evening.

Getting to Sạc Station

Sạc Station is at 6 Tran Hung Dao, at the District 1 end of the avenue — a major road running straight from the centre through to District 5, so it is easy to reach from any direction and drivers need no further explanation. About five minutes by car from Ben Thanh Market and walkable from Pham Ngu Lao. The wide frontage makes dropping off easier than in the alleys around Bui Vien.
