B40 sits at 12-14 Tran Hung Dao, at the Ben Thanh end of the avenue in District 1 — about three minutes by car from Ben Thanh Market, a ten-minute walk from Nguyen Hue walking street and close to Bui Vien. The wide frontage makes drop-off easy. It opens 6pm to 4am every day, weekends and holidays included — a wider window than most places nearby, so you can arrive for dinner and stay late without changing venue.

Music and the kind of night

Music at B40 comes from live DJs playing EDM, house and hip-hop — lively enough to get up to, but not loud enough to drown conversation at the dinner table. What sets it apart is the programming between sets: Lo To game nights with a host and prizes; Bau Cua played by the whole room; Tet and folk festivals staged as themed nights. B40 is both a place to eat and a place to play, in a very Vietnamese way, unlike either a club or a plain restaurant.

Retro carnival space

B40 speaks the visual language of a Vietnamese street festival rather than cool luxury: bright reds and yellows, strings of lights, street-vendor and conical-hat imagery, hand-drawn details borrowed from old grocery packaging. The facade is a large red LED sign with a glowing B40, an awning printed with the logo and tables set out on the pavement like an upgraded street stall. B40 offers four kinds of seat: Regular tables for groups of 2–6 in the main area; a Private area for larger groups of 6–15; a Private room for groups wanting a separate space; and Party and birthday tables set up for your head count with one day's notice.
